wasted in the sun
lots of boring bits and pieces...
Living Space
Stephanie got her old desk brought over from her parents house, as she's decided owning one desk isn't enough. So now she has her own desk next to this one, with it's little attached bookshelf that sits on top. She can put all her honours books on those shelves, freeing up room in the bookshelf next to it for my growing selection of technical texts (fiction books are out in the hallway for some reason). She bottom part, while not high enough to fit the back of a monitor (I've tried previously) does work out to be high enough to fit her iBook screen. Add my other IKEA Lamp and a new gas lift chair from Officeworks and she has herself a nice new workspace. I also get my desk back for my stuff (which is good, as I'm banned from putting things on her desk.
The bookcases have moved around and the bed has new sheets we bought last week on special from target. The chest of drawers has also moved. Once we finish getting the room tidied up, I'll try and post some photos (this requires a digital camera, which I don't have).
I have noticed, with the layout of the room now, there is just about the right amount of space to put a 17" LCD panel on my desk, against Stephie's bookcasey-thing. As well as there being just the right amount of space under the drawers under her desk to put a uATX PC. I wonder if work want to buy me a uATX Athlon64?
Media
Been watching Black Books with housemates and have been really enjoying it. I do love english humour. Also watched Underworld on DVD tonight, which I saw in the cinema and bought on DVD because I'm strange like that.
GNOME
Pushed a huge string change into the battery applet, in order to make the language more natural and hopefully easier to read. I've also updated the warning dialogs, to try and make them easier to deal with and more HIG compliant. 2.8 should be a good release for the battery applet.
On a more disappointing note, today I discovered all these unreviewed, bitrotten features filed against gnome-applets components. It's a pity to see patches dropped on the floor and neglected, no wonder people think GNOME is full of uncaring elitists. There are actually some good features in there (such as SSL support for the mailchecker and options to make the battery applet display either percentage or time).
Work
I've done some. I've submitted my time sheets. I might even get paid ;)
Health
I haven't heard back from the doctor unfortunately but I assume I'm not dying. Been feeling a bit better lately to be honest.
other bits and pieces...
Stephanie cooked spiced chicken. Man I love spiced chicken, and it seems surprisingly easy to make.
