the face of things to come
Followed a link to Windows Live today. Jeff claims they have stolen his name, however, this is what the top of the page looks like:

See, you wouldn't expect Microsoft to publicly announce they were going to support an alternative browser and while Toshok informs us that ASP.NET 2.0 supports Firefox, Luis is right in saying this is a refreshing change of pace.
I compiled the cuemiac branch of deskbar last night to see what exciting new things it does. Live Beagle queries are a little bit cool (although I appear to be seeing double):

They are also working on a new Cairo-based layout widget for their search box. It looks like it was influenced by Spotlight.

This is great work from Raphael and Nigel (and anyone else who is working on it). There are still a few niggles, but I've filed a heap of bugs. Once the exams are over, I'll muck in to fix up any remaining appletty issues, since there are still a heap of applet-related tricks that remain undocumented.
I can't wait to see this in the desktop. This is the face of things to come.
