Life in the Fast Lane |

Ok, so life hasn't really be all~ that exciting, but as usual I've tried to enjoy it as best I can.
The Continuing Story of proXy the Penguin...
Sunday I ended up idling around the UCC, doing a bit of cleaning before running off to collect Stephie. It's actually a good thing that I set my alarm as I was totally distracted by the crazy cleaning action. In some strange piece of irony, it was the freshers who started off the cleaning process. I suspect that two of them are trying to get into door (I'm still unsure as to how I managed this).
I figured I'd take my chances and try to walk into the place where Steph works again. This time was a lot better, I didn't feel threatened when I said I was here to pick up Steph, instead this time I got a smile and a nod.
I gave Steph the penguin that I bought her, she named it Fred. On some strange upper psyche level I was kind of dissapointed, I think subconciously I was hoping for a squee and a hug, I got a good reaction, just not all that much. Maybe I should have left it on her bed for her to find or something, hmm...
Got UCC pizza laid on for attending the cleanup. UCC also looks rather shiny and uberclean at the moment. I suggested that we should have a list of people who make a mess and systematically lock their accounts. In the end I decided that I didn't want to go home, and idled back to the House of Pain.
Steph was moping, cuddled up with Racoon and a blanket. Her and Coman were watching 10 Things I Hate About You, a movie that I really enjoy but haven't seen for years. Sat there watching it, a little unsure as to why Steph was moping and totally unsure how to make her feel better. I hate it when I can't seem to work out how I'm meant to act, it makes me uneasy and quiet.
After that we discovered that Total Recall was on. I discovered that Total Recall was based off a book written by the same author as Minority Report and Blade Runner, all three are very good movies. Although, it is now my opinion that Total Recall is looking a little dated.
Aaron (Vegeta) (who doesn't read my journal because it is apparently too dirty) also spent the night there. To his credit, he got up for maths, I couldn't be bothered (as per usual) and went back to bed.
Followed Coman to West Perth then gave him a lift back from the mechanics. Had a discussion about whether it's better to take Mounts Bay Road, or Kings Park Road back. Of course, he is right, it is better to take Mounts Bay Road, but I refused to accept it on principle.
Attended two lectures, both of them absolutely dull. Java was it's usual boring self, Fresher.Aaron turned up to see exactly how boring it was. There was the comment that it's a lot like C++ however uses a virtual machine, and supposedly involves less crack. I imagine that it gets a lot unlike C++ once you start doing something remotely complex with it. The IPE lecture was on ethics or as it was put "eth-whats?". I can't believe how stupid they must think we are if we need lectures on having ethical standards. Surely people realise that there is a code of ethics and it had to be followed. Then again, not that any other profession follows their particular code.
Post IPE went to work, this time for a pair of accountants whose wingate lisence had expired. Due to their entire network setup being fucked in the head, the modem they had was 33.6k and therefore hideous to do anything on. I had also forgotten to put a 2.4 series kernel on the new router, so had to set one downloading overnight. That means I'm going to have to go back at some point tomorrow, install the kernel, configure the masquarade and the firewall and test everything properly.
Got back to uni at 17.00 only to find Steph in tears. I wasn't really sure why, but I have a suspision that she had let all the little stresses she's under with her deffered exam and all get to her. It also turns out that she didn't actually know where I was (ie. work) was made me feel bad as I'm pretty sure that I had told her. I tried my best to comfort her but then had to go as I was already on borrow time.
It was a little depressing to see Steph cry like that. I hadn't seen her cry since when she was on penicillin and it made me feel a little bad because I really didn't know how to react.
I hope that you feel better tomorrow honey, your exam will be fine and you will pass. Don't stress about things too much because they will all unfold and be fine. I love you :)
Anyway, I'm so totally burnt out and tired, I have to go to bed.
