Other things of interest... I have released the first version of my mpg321 frontend. Have a play with it if you like, though it's really only any good to you if you are running linux, it requires mpg321 and python to work. There is already one more bug I've found in it since I released it, plus several UI improvements that I want to carry out.

Incidently, it works perfectly on the development platform (a pentium 4 notebook with 350 megs of mp3s), it works slightly less good on the target platform (a pentium-mmx 200mhz, 64megs of ram, no swap, netbooting over 100mbits with 10gigs of NFS mounted mp3s). I am working to make both the interfaces and the search algorithm faster (I increased the speed of the search several times today). Still, it appears to be working more or less, so I'm happy.

Some other random thoughts for the day:

as I see it, there are two main kinds of people. Those who have such a limited understanding of the world, and therefore think they know everything important (this is the group of people that commonly includes your white trash, yobbos, etc.), and those who realise there is always this whole extra level to everything, and therefore angst because they feel stupid. The kind of person who wonders about how sixty minutes is trying to make them feel, and that Animal Farm has this depth to it beyond being a farmyard story.

it also occurred to me, being GLBTI^* is either becomming more popular, or more accepted. It just seems that a lot more people are a lot more open about it nowadays, and it makes me wonder; does this mean that it's cool to be GLBTI and all the tryhards are just getting in on the act? (and will they move on to the next cool thing when it comes around?) or is there are more or less fixed percentage of GLBTI people in the world at any one time, just until recent times either have no realised it, or were too afraid to admit it?

Now, I should sleep, apparently I'm going to work tomorrow. I only hope that iiNet have dealt with all their problems over the weekend and the ADSL works again. Else I suspect I'm going to have to spend a whole lot of time trying to work out what's going on. Ah well, at least I'll get paid for that time.

There are also such a thing as easter M&M's, they are peanut M&M's that look like little speckled birds eggs.
