So we're still waiting on receiving Stephie's iBook. Personally I don't know how long my interest in it will last, but for the moment I can't wait to play with it. I have also been playing with themes in gnome2, sawfish having broke I've switched to metacity. Besides the stupid UI problems that there is no way around (why don't they have a mode to make metacity act like [tmp]wm? I am actually tempted to send a wishlist bug for the option. Then it'd be perfect.
The main project of the week has been the UCC diskless clients, pitch and velvet. They are like x-terms that don't suck! Each one is an athlon 2000XP+, nForce motherboard (with GeForce2) and heaps of RAM. Due to much dodginess and nVidia closed-sourced-ness, netbooting them was a little more of a challange then usual. Bernard saved the day of course with his elite kernel coding skills (with an idea that the rest of us really should have thought of). They now netboot relatively well, the only thing remaining is to sort out some locking problems, clean up the kernel so it's more sane/suited to the machine (I'm going to do this tomorrow), and tidy up some other random config files. Other then that they are pretty much done. They play return to castle wolfenstein quite well, and they should also rock at Urban Terror (I can see there being some crazy linux gaming going on soon).
On the subject of linux gaming, I've been reaffirming my addiction to bzflag, having had grahame start a bzflag server on bzflag.angrygoats.net, we now have a bzflag server which is playable from uni. Now we just need to get the admins involved. We can have the best university games of bzflag.
Hmm, what else is interesting? Not a lot really. Still haven't seen X-men 2 (silly penguin, feeling tired, nrr nrr nrr nrr nrr nrr) (I love you Stephie, really!), also seem to be doing a lot of work, even though I so far haven't managed to fix a clients DSL (two weeks after the fact). Bridgeway seems to be collecting new clients like Kathryn collects puppy-dog-eyed geeks (sorry Grahame ;).
*segway* Apparently Aaron has formally resigned as vice president of UniSFA. I'm now at a loss, should we vote for Tom, or James. I mean, let's face it, having James as UniSFA VP would just be funny. Just have to make sure that certain people don't get voted in... ahh, back to manipulating UniSFA politics.
Sleep time now, hopefully we can get UCC's new machines perfect tomorrow, then I might put up some more detailed information, links to Bernard's patches, and hopefully some photos. (Possibly also screenshots of my desktop, it looks kind of pretty at the moment)
