It's the weekend. A generally hectic week of study and exams was topped off by what can only be considered the worst Friday on record.
I was sent to a client of a partner company to get a wireless link set up. This went atypically badly, and ended up with me getting ranted at by someone's manager. One of those people who refuses to see that things that happened are completely out of your control. Especially when you need new firmware and they don't have a working internet connection (it was meant to be active). Basically I got me, my company and one of our partner companies dragged through the mud because I was thrown into the deep end unable to do anything.
After that I went to pay a visit to a supplier because they'd provided me with 9 network cards that didn't work. They weren't actually PCI, the cards were ~4 pins short of the bus. As a result, you could plug one in and it worked, but if you plugged two in, neither of them worked. However, it turns out that at some point I managed to lose one, so I could only return 8.
My laptop is coming apart, it is missing about 6 screws, one of the speakers has half popped out (and I can't seem to pop it back in) and the screen is incredibly loose on it's hinge. I'll have to try and find somewhere that can repair it while I wait (it can't be that hard, I'm sure if I had the service manual I could tighten the screen and pop the speaker back in, then I'd just need some screws).
I went to dinner with my family because it was my brother's 17th birthday. We went to some dodgy restaurant in the Canning Vale industrial area. I figured that no restaurant that had James Squire on tap could be all bad, until I found out you had to go to the bar to order, pay in advance and they only accepted cash. Cash? What is this, the dark ages? While you couldn't complain about the portions, the food turned out to be only average.
Finally, my
housemate and his
girlfriend are stuck in Melbourne due to a fuckup involving a courier and the Australian Passport Office. I hope they make it to Japan, but remember, it won't be the end of the world if you don't. Only, if you have to come home early, a bit of prior warning to get rid of the squatters would be apprieciated ;)
