Congratulations to ChrisChris, my brother is at the World Archery Field Championships in Croatia at the moment. He's shooting open, rather then U/18, and is in fact, not losing.

He normally shoots higher, just above 300 (the maximum possible for the round is 360). This particular round was Unmarked Field, where you trapse around the forest shooting at targets of unmarked distance between 5 and 50 metres away at one of four target face sizes (face size is proportional to distance, it gives you a clue to the distance). Apparently the course is quite hard, with lots of shots up and down the hillside at very steep angles.
Happy Birthday to StephanieI never got around to writing this in my blog on Tuesday, but... Happy Birthday Stephanie!
She got a whole load of cool stuff (who said the older you get the worse your birthdays become?), I got her a book in a series she's been reading (I've already forgotten it's name), two DVDs (
Underworld and
Sense and Sensibility) and another plush penguin for our collections (photos will be online soon). Oh, and I got the
Drivel 1.1.0 release named for her. Incidently, her birthday also marks the anniversary of our relationship. Now, if only we can get married on
my birthday, I only have to remember two days a year...
MiscPicked up Stephie's parents from the airport last night, and drove them home. We didn't have the energy for the 30-odd minute drive home, so we slept there instead. Went straight from there to work. Stephie's parents got us a
mahjongg set heavy enough to down an Ox. We will soon be gambling for pinky fingers, anyone need to lose some weight?
My powerpack for my Toshiba Satellite finally gave up the ghost. Thankfully our neighbour
Matthias happened to have a spare he's not using at the moment. This means I will still be able to use my laptop until I can order one tomorrow (and wait for it to arrive).
Matthias also showed me
this piece of software running on his mobile phone. He can check the status of his peer to peer downloads via GPRS on his mobile phone. It's the digital world people! The digital world!
