So it's the first day of the Spicy Fruit Bun Festival, also known as Good Friday by those who believe in such things. It's also the first full day of
Swancon, so I'm lay on the sofa at home, while Stephie is out fangirling, trying to think of things to occupy my time.
In sad news, my Great Grandmother died yesterday. I knew she was very sick, but I was hoping she would hold out two more months, so that I could see her one last time, when I made it to Germany. However, it's better that she doesn't have to suffer any more. My Grandmother is flying to Hamburg tomorrow. I'm less sad then I feel I should be, but I think that's partially because I hardly knew her, and last time she took a turn for the worse, I had misunderstood that as she was dead, so this time was less of a shock for me. I'm not going to mouth any platitudes, like she's going to a better place, because I don't believe them. However, I am glad that she no longer has to suffer.
I finally have plane tickets to Germany, no thanks to QANTAS. The useless Australian airline. Ever since Air New Zealand used their ownership of Ansett to get themselves out of debt, and QANTAS has been left alone to do what it likes, their service has gone down hill rapidly. Not that their service was so great to begin with. Non the less, we're now flying with Emirates, via Dubai.
linux.conf.au is in 3 weeks. I also have lots of Spicy Fruit Bun Festival break assignments to do for Uni.
