the reports of my untimely demise have been grossly overexaggerated

Currently uploading GNOME-Applets 2.11.1. Admittedly, due to a lack of time, the version number is much lower then it should be, but what can you do? There is a bunch of kickarse, new features in this release though, but you'll have to check it out for yourself.

First week at work was acceptably painless. Have the first module compiling and running. Spent today cleaning up a lot of the UI and making the whole thing look generally more like a GNOME application. I loved what VMWare did in making their vertical application fit in nicely with the desktop. I figure it's worth doing the same. At the same time as porting old widgets and cleaning up UIs, I've been adding lots of little missing features. Most of these were actually really easy to add and definitely missing from the application. It now reports more messages and errors to the user, hopefully with more information, which I feel is very important in an application this technical. In addition, I've plugged about half a dozen crashers caused by you running the application in "incorrect" ways (all of which I discovered, because I didn't know all the unspoken rules you had to follow in launching and running the software.

To treat myself for doing such a great job in my first week, I went and bought two Stereophonics albums which were on special at JBs.

My new work donated 8 Alphas to the UCC. 7 dual 800MHz (EV6?) 3RU babies (manufactured by Samsung) and a much large dual 750MHz Alpha workstation. James, Cameron and I got the workstation booting Sarge last night (it's the only one currently with disks). Sarge netbooted onto the Alpha fairly painlessly, then I broke it trying to run a 2.6 kernel. I'll have to spend some more time with it tomorrow, and get it running properly. Then we'll just need to work out if we have enough available current to run the rest of them.
