Dear
Mr Howard,
You are not
Robert Menzies and this is not 1955.
Your hero Menzies may have built the first
nuclear reactor (which was designed to conduct nuclear research as a gateway to nuclear power and weaponry
1) and he may have envisioned a future where we used nuclear energy for everything (even dredging harbours), but you don't need to
think like that.

Menzies starts Australia's first nuclear reactor at Lucas Heights (NAA: A1200; L25992)Nuclear power in Australia may not be a problem in your life time, or perhaps even in mine, but eventually someone will have to pay dearly for the use of nuclear power and the waste it produces. Waste so long lived that we can't even be sure that the human race will still exist when it is finally safe again.
Renewable energy is real and requires no hippies or crystals to make it function (well, actually some crystals may be required). Why not spend research dollars on perfecting these technologies for use in Australia rather than costing nuclear power stations?
Please John, say no to a nuclear future.
